Since this is a series about famous studios around the world, it is time we talk about the most famous studio in the world: Abbey Road.
Founded in 1931 in London, Abbey Road Studios became across the second half of the 20th century, the most renowned, famous, and desirable studio to record in the world.
Formerly known as “EMI Studio”, the facility was already a famous and renowned since its founding and was one of the main studios for recording as much as classical to popular music at the time, in 1958, Studio Two at EMI became a center for rock and roll music when Cliff Richard and the Drifters (later Cliff Richard and the Shadows) recorded "Move It" there, and later pop music material.
Although The Beatles were already recording their material since 1962, the studio gained big visibility after the band reunited in 1969 to record their last album which took the name of the studio as its title, not only it has a huge highlight since it was the last album the band recorded together, but it was also critically and publicly acclaimed at the time, and it is still remembered nowadays as one of the best records of all time.
The studio since then became a recording home to both classic and modern musicians, from Ella Fitzgerald to Radiohead, and always maintaining a high-quality set of recording equipment and renowned engineers.
Abbey Road studios has become a production center, offering everything offering every step of the production going from creating and recording, to mixing and mastering, and even vinyl cutting process.
Nowadays, Abbey Road also offers education courses on audio engineering held inside the studio itself.
